On behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association of Toronto, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
2019 was a great year for our organization, thank you very much for your support. All three of our gala events were huge successes this year and all three sold out – the inaugural Tryzub Awards in May, an Evening with Bank of Ukraine Governor Yakiv Smolii at the Albany Club in July, and our annual Yalynka Christmas party at The Old Mill this past month (more on this below). In addition, we also had great attendance at all our monthly professional events, whether it was one of our Ukrainians on Bay Street joint finance events, our Sales Workshop, one of our Knowledge Cafe events with UCSS, or any of our other networking nights, thank you very much for coming and supporting us.
Our Yalynka Christmas party was our most successful in recent years, thank you not only to our sponsors for their support, but also to all of you that attended. We’ve posted a number of photos on our website and on Facebook, please check out www.ucpba.ca or our UCPBA of Toronto Facebook page to see them all (and while you’re there, like our group!).
Wishing you a great 2020, we’re planning many more of the same events this year and we look forward to seeing you all again this year! (and if you have ideas for events you’d like to see us organize, please email firstname.lastname@example.org)

UCPBA teamed up with our friends, Ukrainians on Bay Street, last month for an entrepreneurship-themed event. A great crowd was on hand at Marché to hear UCPBA Board Member, Uliana Tomiuk, and Roman Lutsiv speak and take questions. An excellent networking session followed.
Be sure to stay tuned for future finance-themed events!
In conjunction with the third annual Ukraine Reform Conference – and thanks to the generosity of platinum sponsor, BCU Financial Group – UCPBA was pleased to host an evening with the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Yakiv Smolii, on July 3.
Approximately 125 guests and dignitaries attended the event, held at the wood-paneled and historic Albany Club. Governor Smolii outlined some of the National Bank of Ukraine’s efforts in the past few years: from achieving and maintaining macroeconomic stability, liberalizing monetary policies and continuing co-operation with the International Monetary Fund.
A lively Q&A period followed the formal presentation, in which guests put forth a variety of questions on wide-ranging topics, including how to promote confidence in the Ukrainian banking system, and anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.
Thanks to the 60+ attendees that joined us at our joint UCPBA Toronto + Ukrainians on Bay street event! Held on March 27th downtown at Marche Restaurant, we had three panelists speak about their careers in investment banking, M&A, and securities law. Following the presentations, we had a lively Q&A session, and then a (late!) night of informal and casual networking.
Thanks to our excellent speakers for all of their insights and advice: Nicholas Bonk (RBC Capital Markets), Myroslav Chwaluk (Fasken), and Halyna Shribak (Deloitte).
Thanks as well to our great sponsors: Buduchnist Credit Union, Ukrainian Credit Union, AV-Canada, and Marche Restaurant!
UCPBA is proud to be a partner in presenting the Tryzub Awards. The
Tryzub Awards were created by passionate Ukrainian-Canadians who saw a
need to unify our community across Canada to celebrate the
accomplishments of those who have demonstrated their work in support of
Ukraine, Ukrainian causes, the Ukrainian-Canadian community and Canada
Tryzub Award Gala is an evening of celebration honouring recipients who
demonstrate the virtues our community values in the areas of: Community
Leadership, Business Leadership and Friends of Ukraine.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at our annual Yalynka Christmas Party at the Albany Club this Saturday! Please register online or call 416-566-2664 to get your tickets.
